You can be one of those who love this day, those who hate it or those who go through this date without realizing it but for everyone … Valentine’s day is around the corner! Every February 14 hearts invade everything and tradition dictates that those who are in love have to celebrate it.
It is a day that divides people between those who float in love and those who are alone: “Valentine’s Day with its stories of Cupid and chocolates, roses and sugar hearts, is just that.
It is very divisive. There are couples pampering each other and singles accompanied by their loneliness…. But it does not have to be that way. I believe we must always be our own Valentine.
Celebrating SELF LOVE we sometimes forget when we focus on what we do not have or lack. Any day is the day to cook a delicious dinner for ourselves, wear our favorite outfit. Buy some flowers and treat ourselves as well as we do with our loved ones.
On the other hand, by celebrating self-love, we are also opening the door to let people who are not ready to love or accompany us go.
This is one of the most difficult things you will have to do in your life, but it will also be the most important: stop giving your love to those who are not ready to love you.
Stop having difficult conversations with people who do not want to change. Stop appearing for people who are indifferent to your presence.
Sometimes our instinct is to do everything possible to earn the good graces of all we love, but it is also the impulse that steals our time, energy and sanity, forgetting to value ourselves.
In short, whether you already have someone special. You are with friends or alone on this day (or any other). Be good to yourself, don’t be so hard on yourself. Love yourself, honor yourself and celebrate it. Be your own beautiful, loved, appreciated and fun Valentine. You deserve it.
Me? Surely I will celebrate it with a glass of wine with my beautiful roommate in our warm house in New York ….. What about you? How do you celebrate this day? =)
